How to play
How do I win a match?
Matches are best of three rounds. Knock your opponent's health to zero, or have more of it left when the 99-second clock runs out. If both frames go down together, or time runs out with health level, the round is a draw and counts for both.
How do I block?
Hold the direction away from your opponent. Standing blocks high and mid attacks; hold down-away to block low ones. Dashing in can't be blocked out of, so walk when you're close.
How do I do a special move?
Each frame has one special. Do its motion and press the button, or press Special (Space, RB, SP on screen, or Play/Pause on the Siri Remote) to fire it with no motion at all. After that it recharges for a few seconds; the bar under your name shows when it's ready. The inputs for every frame are on the Controls page.
What is Arcade mode?
Four bouts against the CPU: each of the other three frames, then a mirror match against your own. On Medium and Hard the CPU steps up a level for the last two bouts; on Easy it stays easy. Choose the level under AI Level in Settings.
Some moves in the move list are greyed out
Each frame shows its full planned move list, but only the signature special is in the game today. The others, along with Training mode and arena hazards, are marked as coming in a later update.
Versus
How do I play Versus on two devices?
- Put both devices on the same Wi-Fi network, near each other.
- On one, choose Versus, then Host Game.
- On the other, choose Versus, then Join Game, and pick the first device's name.
- Each player picks their own frame; the host picks the arena.
Both devices need the Full Version.
The other device doesn't show up
- The first time you open Versus, the game asks for permission to find devices on your local network. If you declined, turn it back on in Settings › Privacy & Security › Local Network (on Mac, System Settings › Privacy & Security › Local Network).
- Check both devices are on the same network. Guest and public Wi-Fi networks often block devices from seeing each other.
- Make sure one device is hosting before the other looks for games.
Can I pause a Versus match?
Not on two devices: the menu opens, but the match keeps running for your opponent. In Couch Versus on one device, pausing stops the fight for both players.
How do two people play on one device?
Choose Couch Versus. On Mac, two players can share one keyboard; on Apple TV, connect a controller for the second player. On iPhone and iPad it appears once a keyboard or controller is connected. See who plays which side.
Full Version
What is free and what do I pay for?
The free game includes KAGE-07, Ramen Row and Arcade mode. One in-app purchase, Full Version, unlocks every frame, every arena and Versus. You pay once for the whole game, not per frame or per arena. There are no ads, no subscriptions and no loot boxes.
How do I restore my purchase on a new device?
- Sign in with the same Apple Account you used to buy the Full Version.
- Open Settings in the game, or the unlock screen.
- Choose Restore Purchases.
It says "Waiting for approval"
That account uses Ask to Buy. Once the family organiser approves the purchase, everything unlocks automatically.
Does Family Sharing work?
No. The Full Version isn't shared with your Family Sharing group, so each Apple Account that wants it buys it once.
How do I get a refund?
Purchases are handled by Apple, so refunds are too. Visit reportaproblem.apple.com, sign in, and choose the purchase.
Fixes
My gamepad doesn't work
- Check that it is paired and connected in your device's Bluetooth settings, and charged.
- Controllers paired to another device (a console or another iPhone) may reconnect there first. Turn Bluetooth off on that device or pair again.
- The game supports extended gamepads (Xbox, PlayStation and MFi). Single-stick or "micro" controllers don't have enough buttons.
- If it disconnects mid-fight, the game pauses. Reconnect it, then choose Resume.
My controller is playing the wrong side
With a keyboard connected and one controller, the controller always plays P2 so two people can share. Otherwise controllers take P1 then P2 in the order they connected. Disconnect and reconnect them in the order you want.
The game is not smooth
Open Settings and set Graphics to Low. It controls edge smoothing: Low is the lightest, Medium is the default and High is the sharpest your device's graphics chip supports.
I can't hear anything
- Check the three volume sliders in Settings: Music, Effects and Menus.
- Check the device volume.
